BESt summer programs are four weeks in duration and focused on a STEM-based curriculum. The goal is to spark students interests in STEM-based professions and to create a pipeline of diverse healthcare providers to the St. Louis Region.
BioBus creates immersive laboratory environments, including mobile labs and community labs, in which students join scientists for hands-on scientific exploration during in-school, after-school, weekend, and summer programs as well as internships. BioBus helps K-12 and college students in New York City discover, explore, and pursue science.

The Research Mentorship Program is a competitive summer program offered by the University of California, Santa Barbara that engages highly accomplished high school students from around the world in hands-on, interdisciplinary university-level research. The program runs from June 20 to August 4, 2023, and students are required to attend the virtual component from June 20-23, 2023. Students are paired with a mentor (graduate student, postdoc, or faculty) and choose a research project from a wide range of disciplines offered by the program each year. Along with a deep relationship with their mentor and insight into professional research-based opportunities, students learn about research techniques and mature their academic goals. The GRIT talks lecture series connects students to some of the best minds among the UC Santa Barbara research community presenting their groundbreaking research and innovative technology. Additionally, students are immersed in university life and network with equally curious and ambitious peers.
The Women in Engineering Summer Program (WIESP), sponsored by Knowles Corporation, Motorola Solutions, and the National Science Foundation, is a free, 3-week, non-residential program that offers high school students an unparalleled opportunity to learn more about engineering through hands-on projects and corporate partner visits. Participants will also have an opportunity to work with world-renowned professors, meet COE students, make new friends, and earn a stipend upon successful completion of the program!

The Summer Youth Internship Program (SYIP) offered by Charleston County Government is an opportunity for young adults between 16-21 years of age, and who are residents of Charleston County, to gain experience in the operation of county government, develop workplace readiness skills, and exposure to the work world while earning $15/hour. The eligible candidate must be a high school or college student, have a functional email account and voicemail to receive and respond to communication, and complete the online application. Job opportunities are available with Charleston County government, the Public Library, the Charleston Animal Society, and Public Works Department. The program will last from June 16th to July 27th, training begins on June 16th, and the graduates will receive soft skills training throughout the program while working an average of 4-hour shifts per day for a total of 120 hours. The application deadline is May 5th, or upon receiving 125 applicants, whichever comes first.

As part of Northwestern Medicine's commitment to building stronger communities, the NM Discovery Program’s mission is to create a pathway for the next generation of healthcare leaders by drawing on the talents of Northwestern Medicine's incredible team of healthcare professionals to provide STEM career exploration opportunities. The program is designed for students who otherwise would not be able to access these opportunities. Throughout the program, students will be exposed to a broad range of healthcare careers through activities including tours, guest speakers, group discussion, and hands-on projects. In addition, the program fosters character and professional development, cultivates life skills, provides community service and leadership experience, and offers mentorship and networking opportunities. The Women Empowered Through Business (WEB) Institute is a week-long summer internship program aimed at introducing high school female rising juniors to the technology and business fields. Throughout the six-day session, students will get involved in various workshops that will teach them coding, computer technology, entrepreneurship, personal branding, supply chain management, business analytics, and professional development. These workshops will be conducted by university faculty and staff to expose the students to women leading in the fields of technology and business. The program also includes team-building sessions and college readiness workshops to help the students with their future academic paths. Along with these, the participants of this program will have the opportunity to engage with industry leaders through various sessions for a better understanding of the business world.
The Ochsner STAR Program offers a free opportunity for high school students to explore the healthcare industry, especially those who have limited access and resources.

The internships offered by the Museum of Science in Boston are available for one of three trimesters: fall, winter/spring, and summer. These internships allow for hands-on, work-learn experience in a variety of areas including science education and behind-the-scenes work. Applicants must be enrolled in high school, college or graduate school, or making a career change, and must be eligible to work in the United States. Some internships are paid, while others are unpaid, and any internship can be done for course credit if permitted by the educational institution. The Museum also offers a summer youth internship program for students ages 14-19, which runs for seven weeks and includes paid working hours, professional development workshops, and free admission to the Museum of Science's exhibit halls and venues.
