Pomona College Academy for Youth Success offers a multifaceted approach to prepare and support over ninety high achieving high school students for admission to and success in college. Rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors participate in a wide array of programs throughout the academic year geared to affect their perceptions of the college experience, to challenge them academically, and to develop a collaborative cohort striving for success in selective four year institutions. Each scholar participates in PAYS for three consecutive years, from acceptance at the end of their first year of high school until graduation. In the summer of 2023, we will offer both in-person and online versions of the 2-week Summer Residential Program. The in-person and online programs will run concurrently from June 11-24 (Session 1) and again from July 9-22 (Session 2). Students at the Summer Residential Program will spend 2 weeks deeply immersed in the art and craft of creative writing. Each student will take one core course for the duration of the session. The core courses are taught by graduates of the renowned Iowa Writers' Workshop.
