About the role
The RCPD Internship Program is available for post-secondary school students pursuing a career in law enforcement and police work. The program is unpaid, and the student must be eligible to receive college credit for completing the internship. Essential criteria for the program include submitting an application, signing a ride-along waiver, passing the criminal history background check, and complying with the Department dress code. Interns work with their Field Supervisors to determine goals and expectations and required to complete a project. Priority is given to students actively pursuing a career in law enforcement/police-work. To apply for the internship, potential interns need to read the department guidelines, download and fill out the internship application and submit it along with a cover letter expressing their interest in seeking an internship with the Rapid City Police Department.
