About the role
The Summer Youth Internship Program (SYIP) offered by Charleston County Government is an opportunity for young adults between 16-21 years of age, and who are residents of Charleston County, to gain experience in the operation of county government, develop workplace readiness skills, and exposure to the work world while earning $15/hour. The eligible candidate must be a high school or college student, have a functional email account and voicemail to receive and respond to communication, and complete the online application. Job opportunities are available with Charleston County government, the Public Library, the Charleston Animal Society, and Public Works Department. The program will last from June 16th to July 27th, training begins on June 16th, and the graduates will receive soft skills training throughout the program while working an average of 4-hour shifts per day for a total of 120 hours. The application deadline is May 5th, or upon receiving 125 applicants, whichever comes first.
