The College Now STEM Research Academy at Lehman College is a two-part program designed to provide students with an opportunity to develop the essential skills to be strong scientific thinkers by engaging in authentic enquiry based research activities. The first component of the program is a high school credit scientific investigative course (DNA Detectives) offered during the spring semester, and the second component is a six week college credit course (BIO189, 1 credit) that meets during the summer, in which students work in research labs under the supervision and mentorship of Lehman College faculty and their graduate students.
SAMA connects members with internship opportunities through a partnership with Alamo Academies, offering high-demand STEM curriculums to high school students. Alamo Academies exposes high school students to STEM careers driven by industry. This 10-week program for Texas high school seniors provides firsthand experience in a research environment and insight into the numerous career opportunities at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Over the course of the program, participants tackle a research project in a biomedical field under the guidance of full-time faculty and listen to seminars on a wide variety of research topics.
The Smithsonian Office of Internships provides high school students the opportunity to gain experience in the world’s largest museum, education, and research institution. There are a variety of virtual, hybrid, and in-person internship opportunities across the various different museums such as the National Museum of Natural History, National Portrait Museum, and National Museum of the American Indian, and a variety of others.

The MITES Summer Program is a six-week, on-campus program that immerses US high school juniors in rigorous and rewarding mathematics, science, and humanities courses. Scholars will also have access to lab tours, social events, and college admissions counseling while developing the academic and personal skills essential for success. Students will engage with STEM professionals in seminars and tours of MIT labs and local companies employing MITES alumni. The program is free of charge, and students will only pay for transportation to and from MIT. At the conclusion of the program, students will receive a written evaluation from their instructors outlining their strengths, growth areas, and contributions to the class, which some use as supplemental material with their college applications.
Successful candidates can earn up to $2,250, and they will also receive additional benefits such as STEM teaching internships, mentorship from STEM professionals, and eligibility for paid internship opportunities the following summer in a research setting in the Boston area.

Today's Interns, Tomorrow's Professionals (TIP) is the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston's paid work and learning internship program for eligible high school students who have completed their sophomore year in the Boston Public Schools. It starts with a developmentally rich summer work experience that includes job coaching and skill-building workshops. Then, based on available openings and individual interest, effort, and performance, some students are selected for an extended year-round internship program that can last up to three years.
The MIT Women's Technology Program (WTP) is a rigorous four-week summer academic experience to introduce high school students to engineering through hands-on classes, labs, and team-based projects in the summer after 11th grade. WTP is designed for students who are excited about learning, have demonstrated their ability to excel at math and science in their high school classes, and who have no prior background (or very little) in engineering, with few opportunities to explore these fields. WTP is a women-focused, collaborative community aimed at empowering students from groups historically underrepresented and underserved in engineering. We especially encourage students to apply who will be the first family member to attend college, who come from high schools with limited access to STEM classes and activities, or who are African American, Hispanic, or Native American.
Forsyth Student Scholars Summer Internship Program
