The High School Internship Program allows you to connect one-on-one and in small cohorts with Museum professionals in a number of related fields, including editorial, marketing, social media, education, and more. During your time at The Met, you have the chance to find the intersection of your interests as you gain insights from peers and professionals.
The Adler Planetarium offers internship opportunities for high school students to engage with science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) in a fun and supportive environment. The Far Horizons Teens summer program teaches participants how to prevent light pollution through circuitry, computer programming, structural design, and teamwork. They will also develop prototype solutions to mitigate the effects of light pollution. Participants receive a stipend and transportation support takes the form of CTA passes. Another opportunity is the Youth Leadership Council, which provides advocacy and leadership development for young people interested in centering "youth voice" in the museum community. The council will design and curate a photography exhibition about light pollution, among other projects. The Adler Planetarium ensures that participants are educated about COVID-19 safety procedures.
Student Heroes build leadership skills, bolster their resumes and college profiles, and support their communities. Participants will help train volunteers, host a food drive, and learn about food insecurity—they’ll also attend professional development workshops to help build skills. Students are expected to commit to four shifts a month and contribute a total of 50 hours of service.

Youth Conservation Corps members work in a healthful outdoor setting on a variety of projects including building trails, maintaining fences, cleaning up campgrounds, improving wildlife habitat, environmental education planning and teaching, stream restoration, historic building preservation, and more! You'll also participate in educational field trips where chances are you'll see wildlife or history before your eyes, hike and stand on a mountaintop, or gaze at an ancient ruin.
The Computer Science and Engineering department's CSExplore Camp is an exciting 3 day youth program designed to give women high school students an engaging, fun-filled and hands-on immersive summer experience.
Attendees will explore the fundamentals of computing from the low-level hardware of circuits all the way to the high-level logic of writing software. To embrace the diversity of the field, activities also include programming a robot and designing a video game. This day camp will take place on UB’s North campus, with occasional trips to some of the campus’s exciting research labs that apply computing to solve meaningful real-world problems.
SAMA connects members with internship opportunities through a partnership with Alamo Academies, offering high-demand STEM curriculums to high school students. Alamo Academies exposes high school students to STEM careers driven by industry. Students in these programs learn about high-demand career pathways through a hands-on curriculum that equips them to make better decisions on their educational and career plans after high school graduation. These internships are valuable for both manufacturers and students.

NLI is a leadership program for 13-15 year old youth living or going to school in North Lawndale, Gage Park, and New City/Back of the Yards. Each session, youth get to know each other, engage in community-building games, and discuss and research issues around violence in their neighborhood. The ultimate goals are to gain leadership skills and meet with adult leaders, such as aldermen, to include youth voice in the changes they want to see in their communities.
Successful candidates can earn up to $2,250, and they will also receive additional benefits such as STEM teaching internships, mentorship from STEM professionals, and eligibility for paid internship opportunities the following summer in a research setting in the Boston area.

Our CIT program is specially designed to provide leadership opportunities while having a fantastic camp experience in a small group setting. This four week program is selective and requires an interview. CIT's live in cabin with campers and a lead counselor. Throughout the four weeks, they gain real-world experience assisting in a variety of program areas such as field games, camp festivals, and more. Certifications for belay instructors and junior lifeguards are available in this program.
Our student programs allow you to learn more about NSA, deepen your career field knowledge and collect a paycheck or scholarship money. The MITES Summer Program is a six-week, on-campus program that immerses US high school juniors in rigorous and rewarding mathematics, science, and humanities courses. Scholars will also have access to lab tours, social events, and college admissions counseling while developing the academic and personal skills essential for success. Students will engage with STEM professionals in seminars and tours of MIT labs and local companies employing MITES alumni. The program is free of charge, and students will only pay for transportation to and from MIT. At the conclusion of the program, students will receive a written evaluation from their instructors outlining their strengths, growth areas, and contributions to the class, which some use as supplemental material with their college applications.

The job shadowing program at Arkansas Children's for high school students offers an online training education course and shadowing experience for individuals interested in learning about a specific area in health care. Students will be able to indicate their area of interest on the job shadowing application, and we will do our best to match the student. Students will have the opportunity to experience the hospital setting as well as some of the duties performed by the health care worker for 1-3 days; however, students will not be permitted to take part in direct patient care.
The UB/National Grid Camp provides an opportunity for students with an aptitude in math and science to learn more about careers in STEM and experience campus life. We are especially interested in students from groups that are underrepresented in STEM professions. Students will spend three nights in North Campus dorms during which they will be presented with an engineering challenge to solve as a team. This year will include a field trip to National Grid, a business lunch with National Grid as well as UB professionals, and UB laboratory hours.

The AI for Health & Medicine Bootcamp is a short, intensive program designed for students who are new to AI and interested in exploring how it is used in healthcare. In the summer of 2023, we will offer both in-person and online versions of the 2-week Summer Residential Program. The in-person and online programs will run concurrently from June 11-24 (Session 1) and again from July 9-22 (Session 2). Students at the Summer Residential Program will spend 2 weeks deeply immersed in the art and craft of creative writing. Each student will take one core course for the duration of the session. The core courses are taught by graduates of the renowned Iowa Writers' Workshop. Students may select a core course in fiction writing, poetry writing, or creative writing (which includes some combination of fiction, poetry, and personal essay). We also offer core courses in TV writing and playwriting. Students will share their writing with teachers and peers, receive constructive critique, and participate in writing exercises and activities. To supplement the core courses, we'll also offer readings by exciting published writers; workshops on process and aspects of craft; discussions on writing-adjacent subjects (literary translation, film, revision, mental health); collaborative projects to allow small groups of students to work together; as well as open mics, talent shows, icebreakers, and social gatherings designed to give students the opportunity to connect with one another.

The STEM Research Academy is a two‐semester program, consisting of a spring pre‐college science course and the opportunity to conduct hands-on research with CUNY faculty members in a summer research experience. The Academy is designed to provide students with an opportunity to build essential literacy and numeracy skills by engaging in ‘authentic inquiry’ activities. High schools that lack a strong science research program and serve a population generally underrepresented in the STEM fields are targeted for student recruitment.
