About the role
The High School Alliance Internship Program is a competitive, one-year program designed for high school juniors and seniors who aspire to pursue careers in medicine, nursing, or other healthcare fields. The program offers various courses during the fall and spring semesters, including biology, healthcare communications, medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. Students are required to meet certain criteria, such as being 16 years old, having a grade of "B" or above in Algebra, Biology, and a physical science course, and being enrolled in a participating high school for the entire school year. The program only accepts 65 students each year, making admission highly competitive. Students who meet these criteria have to complete an in-person interview and obtain parent/guardian permission. There is also uBEATS, an online program for those who do not meet the eligibility of High School Alliance.
