About the role
The High School Internship Program offered by Choice Physical Therapy is aimed at providing juniors or seniors in high school with an opportunity to gain exposure and insight into the field of medical care for physical and occupational therapy. Students will have the chance to observe and participate in day-to-day operations under the supervision of the Clinical Manager or Practice Director. The unpaid internship lasts for 2-4 months, with hours that can be accommodated to the student's school schedule, ranging from 6 to 20 hours per week. Students with a GPA of 3.0 or above, an interest in a future medical field post-secondary education, and the mental and physical ability to perform major functions can apply. Intern duties may include clinical functions such as preparing treatment spaces, carrying out clinical activities with patients, and developmental tasks such as conducting internet research and creating clinical protocols based on evidence-based information. Administrative tasks such as scheduling patient treatments are also part of the internship.
