About the role
The Next Generation STEM Internship Program (NGSI) is an education and internship opportunity for rising juniors and seniors from high schools or accredited home school programs in Anderson, Blount, Knox, Loudon, and Roane counties to participate in STEM or STEM-related projects with researchers at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). The program provides participants with the opportunity to learn from world-renowned scientists and engineers while working on STEM projects. It also offers optional professional development activities, including workshops, lab tours, lectures, poster sessions, seminars, and networking opportunities. Eligible applicants must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident, a rising junior/senior or a recently graduated senior, have a minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0, and be at least 16 years of age by the time of appointment. Program benefits include weekly stipends of up to $500 based on 40 hours of participation each week.
