About the role
The HIP IMO (High school student Internship Program in Integrated Mathematical Oncology) is an 8-week summer program at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida that provides high school students aged 16 or older with interdisciplinary team science research experiences. The program is designed to prepare motivated aspiring scientists for interdisciplinary cancer research careers. Under the mentorship of faculty and scientists in the Integrated Mathematical Oncology department, students are involved in research projects that are appropriate to their interests and abilities. HIP IMO provides access to required computer equipment and software throughout the entire internship. Selected students receive a $1,000 scholarship and are required to attend daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. They will gain oral presentation experience by designing and delivering a 15-minute presentation to department members and guests at the HIP IMO research day and write a three-page scientific report at the end of the program.
