About the role
The RISE program offered by Boston University Summer Term is a 6-week internship/practicum for domestic high school juniors passionate about STEM subjects. The program consists of two tracks: Internship and Practicum. In the Internship track, students will work on research projects under the mentorship of postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and distinguished faculty for 40 hours every week. On the other hand, the Practicum track provides a set syllabus on computational neurobiology within a structured research environment led by a BU instructor. Students will have four hours of group research in the afternoon and attend two-hour lectures in the morning. Both tracks include workshops intended to hone academic and professional skills, poster symposium presentations, and weekly off-site or on-site interactions with biotech or pharmaceutical firms. All students will learn how to read a research paper, network in the engineering and science fields, and gain a better understanding of research ethics and the scientific process. Bu has been offering these opportunities for over 40 years and has helped many students start their careers in science, engineering, or research.
